小盲位河牌加注-弃牌(干燥牌面)(SB River Raise-Fold Dry)

SB River Raise-Fold Dry

When the board is dry on the river, the small blind player raises first but then folds due to the opponent's re-raise.

Meaning

SB River Raise-Fold Dry refers to a sequence where the player in the small blind (SB) on the river (River) facing a dry board (Dry Board, i.e., a board with no straight or flush draw possibilities) first makes a raise (Raise), but then folds (Fold) when the opponent re-raises (Re-raise). This play is typically used to represent a strong hand but with marginal actual hand strength as a bluff or value raise, abandoning the pot when met with resistance.

Scenario and Strategy

  • Dry Board Characteristics: The board lacks connected cards or flush draws, e.g., K♠ 7♦ 2♣ 9♥ 3♠, making the opponent’s raising range more inclined toward made hands rather than draws.
  • Small Blind Disadvantage: The small blind is out of position (OOP, Out of Position), and after acting on the river, the opponent can observe the action before making a decision.
  • Purpose of Raising: Attempts to represent a very strong hand (e.g., a set, top pair top kicker, etc.) to force the opponent to fold, especially when the opponent’s range includes busted draws or medium-strength hands.
  • Reason for Folding: When the opponent re-raises on a dry board, it typically indicates they hold a very strong made hand (e.g., top pair or better). Calling or re-raising further is often negative expectation.

Notes

  • This play requires precise board reading and analysis of opponent tendencies.
  • Overusing it can lead opponents to adjust, resulting in frequent re-raises.
  • On wet boards (dynamic boards), the opponent’s re-raising range may include draws, so avoid folding too easily.

Example

Typical scenario: The small blind holds A♠ 8♠, and the community cards are K♠ 7♦ 2♣ 9♥ 3♠ (no flush or straight possibilities). After the small blind bets and the opponent raises on the river, the small blind re-raises (representing a king top pair or better). The opponent re-raises again, and the small blind folds.
