SB Squeeze
小盲挤压
**Small Blind Squeeze (SB Squeeze)** Refers to a play where, in the small blind position, after facing a raise and one or more calls, you make a large re-raise to isolate the original raiser and force other players to fold.
Context: Term article: SB Squeeze
Principle and Purpose
SB Squeeze is an aggressive strategy typically used preflop. When the small blind (SB) observes a raise and at least one caller, they leverage their positional disadvantage (acting first postflop) by making an oversized bet to apply pressure. The core objectives are:
- Isolate the original raiser to create a heads-up situation, thereby exploiting a better range.
- Force callers to fold, capturing dead money.
- Win the pot directly when opponents have weak ranges.
Execution Conditions
A typical SB squeeze requires:
- The raiser has a wide range, especially from late position or blinds stealing.
- The caller(s) are usually loose-passive players or those with medium-strength hands unwilling to call a large bet.
- SB's own hand is suited for isolation, such as medium pairs, suited connectors, or AX hands, offering postflop playability and strength against the calling range.
Example
Assume blinds 10/20, effective stacks 2000. CO raises to 50, button calls. SB holds 7♦8♦ and chooses to raise to 220, a classic SB squeeze.
Cautions
- Squeeze frequency should not be too high, otherwise opponents will fight back with 4-bets or calls.
- Be sensitive to opponent tendencies: tight-passive players (nits) are more likely to fold, while calling stations or aggressive opponents may not comply.
- Pay attention to stack depth; deeper stacks reduce fold equity.
