Example
In a $1/$2 limit Texas Hold'em game, the small bet is $2 (equal to the big blind). Pre-flop, the big blind is $2, and a player raising must raise by $2, making the total bet $4. On the flop, the first player to bet can bet $2 (the small bet), and subsequent raises are also in $2 increments. On the turn and river, the big bet ($4) is used.
