UTG+1翻牌前加注干燥牌面延迟持续下注(UTG+1 Preflop Delayed C-Bet Dry)

Refers to a delayed continuation bet made on the turn on a dry board after raising preflop from the UTG+1 position and checking the flop.

Position Background

UTG+1 (Under the Gun +1) is one of the early preflop positions, located two seats to the left of the big blind, acting early in the order, and typically representing a stronger starting hand range. Due to positional disadvantage, it is difficult to control the pot postflop, so after a preflop raise, players often choose to check on the flop to balance their range or induce bluffs.

Delayed Continuation Bet Strategy

A delayed continuation bet (Delayed C-Bet) refers to skipping the c-bet on the flop and then betting on the turn. It is commonly seen in the following scenarios:

  • The flop is wet, making a single c-bet less effective;
  • After the opponent checks on the flop, the turn card may weaken their range;
  • The intention is to control the pot or gain additional information.

Characteristics of Dry Boards

A dry board refers to a public board structure that does not easily form draws or strong made hands, e.g., a rainbow board with no connectivity (such as K-7-2). If the flop is checked and the turn still remains dry, a delayed c-bet becomes more threatening because opponents are less likely to have reasonable draws to continue calling.

Specific Example

Typical scenario: A UTG+1 player holds A♠K♠ and raises preflop. The flop comes K♦7♣2♥ (dry and top pair), but they choose to check. The turn is 3♠, keeping the board dry. Now betting about 2/3 pot can represent a strong hand or a value bet, forcing opponents who missed the board to fold.

Notes

  • There must be a valid reason (e.g., slow-playing a strong hand, or holding high-card air) to use this line;
  • Do not use it too frequently to avoid being exploited by observant opponents;
  • On dry boards, the bet size can be smaller to reduce the cost of bluffing.
