The probability of hitting a set on the flop is about 11.8%; preflop win rate against AK/AQ is roughly around 50%, and it relies more on hitting a set; on a flop with three high cards, it can often only be used as a bluff catcher or a fold. Only open from BTN with deep stacks or see a cheap flop from SB; fold from other positions.

Strategi GTO

Post-flop without set: fold to standard cbet most of the time; with set, play for value or slow-play to trap based on SPR. Multiway pot without set: almost always fold, don't console yourself with "cheap flop to see".

SB	In the small blind, with 44 facing a raise, you can call or 3-bet, but 3-betting requires caution. If the big blind is loose, you can call; if the big blind is tight, you can raise to steal the blinds. Be careful post-flop because of positional disadvantage.
BB	If the small blind's raising range is wide, you can 3-bet; if tight, call to see the flop. After the flop, if you hit a set, you can bet decisively.

44 vs AKo has 52% equity, but if it doesn't hit a set postflop, it's behind. vs AQs has 55% equity, but the risk of a flush draw is high. vs KK only 18% equity, should fold preflop directly. vs suited connectors like 8♠7♠, slight edge preflop, but easy to get outdrawn postflop. The main value of 44 is hitting a set; otherwise, often fold.
