MP	If no one has raised before you, raise 2-3 BB to isolate weak players and create a heads-up pot. If facing a 3-bet, usually fold because 88 has insufficient equity against a tight range. Post-flop, if overcards appear, proceed with caution.
CO	5-3BB. 88 has good positional advantage in CO, can steal blinds or play against the blinds. If facing a 3bet, decide whether to call based on opponent tendencies: fold against aggressive 3bettors, call against loose-passive opponents to see the flop. Be cautious if not hitting a set post-flop.
BTN	5 BB from the BTN. 88 has the best position on the BTN and can frequently raise to steal blinds. If the blinds 3-bet, you can call or 4-bet bluff, but need to consider opponent's range. Post-flop, when you don't hit a set, use positional advantage to continuation bet on dry boards.
SB	If no one raises before you, you can limp or raise 3BB to steal the blinds, but be aware of BB's 3-bet. When facing a raise, calling or 3-bet bluffing should be cautious because 88 is at a positional disadvantage post-flop. It is recommended to fold in most situations.
BB	In the BB position facing a raise, you can call or 3-bet. If the opponent's raising range is wide, you can 3-bet to 8-10 BB, leveraging the postflop playability of 88. However, if the opponent is tight, call to see the flop. When you miss a set on the flop, on dry boards you can check-raise as a bluff, while on wet boards you should check-fold.

On dry low board textures, 88 often leads against your opponent's missed range. As the preflop raiser, continuation bet about 1/3 pot to force high cards to fold. Flush boards weaken the strength of 88, especially when there is a high card flush. If the flop has an A-high flush, 88 is rarely ahead. Should check-fold unless opponent bets very small. If the flop is a low-card flush, can bet half pot, representing a flush, but if called, be careful on the turn.

Against 99, equity is only 20%, a clear underdog, so avoid large pots. Against ATo offsuit, equity is about 55%, a slight advantage, can raise to isolate. Against AKo, equity is about 48%, be cautious postflop because AKo often hits high cards. The key for 88 is to flop a set; otherwise, its value is limited in multiway pots.

MTT push/fold
