Probability of flopping a set: about 11.8%; preflop equity against AK/AQ is around 50%, relying more on flopping a set; on flops with three overcards, often only good for bluff-catching or folding. Mainly open from CO/BTN, can steal from SB; usually fold from UTG/MP.

UTG	Due to its preflop win rate disadvantage against higher pairs and being vulnerable to squeezes from later players, you can consider calling if facing a 3bet, but should fold against a tight player's 4bet. Post-flop, continuation bet when there are no overcards on the board, and proceed cautiously when facing high cards.
MP	In MP position, 99 should raise 2.5-3 BB. Compared to UTG, the position is slightly better, allowing you to call wider 3-bets, but still fold to tight-aggressive 4-bets. Post-flop, play aggressively if you flop a set, otherwise control the pot and avoid stacking off against overpairs.
CO	In the CO position, 99 can raise 3BB or flat call. If raised, and then 3bet by the blinds, you can call to see the flop; if 4bet by BTN or the blinds, usually fold. Post-flop, use positional advantage to c-bet on dry boards, and be cautious on wet boards.
BTN	Facing a 3bet from the blinds, you can call, but if the blind is a tight player and 4bets, fold. Post-flop, leverage position: c-bet on low boards, check to control the pot on high boards. Consider stealing the blinds.
SB	If raised and then facing a 3-bet from the big blind, you can call. Out of position postflop, on dry boards you can lead bet, on wet boards check-call, avoiding overcommitting.
BB	If facing a raise, you can call or 3-bet. Post-flop, out of position, on low boards check-raise, on high boards check-fold. Avoid going all-in against a high pair.

You should continuation bet 2/3 pot for value. If the opponent raises, you can call or re-raise, as the board has few draws. If a high card appears on the turn, be cautious and control the pot.

On a wet connected board, 99 makes top set but there are many draws. You should bet 2/3 pot to protect your hand. If opponent raises, consider whether they have made a straight or flush; you can call but avoid going all-in. On the turn, if the draw completes, check-fold.

If the board pairs, you should bet 1/2 pot to test your opponent. If the opponent raises, they might hold a K or a full house, and you can fold. If another pair appears on the turn, proceed cautiously and check.

If you don't flop a set, check-fold. If you flop a set, you can bet 1/2 pot, but be cautious if the opponent raises, as a flush may already be made. If the turn completes the flush, check-fold.

99 vs TT: Win rate 20%, avoid big pots preflop, but can fight back if you hit a set on the flop. 99 vs AK: Win rate about 55%, but at a disadvantage if an A or K appears on the flop. 99 vs Suited Connectors: Win rate about 50%, but need to protect when flop brings draws. At 10BB, go all-in directly from any position, because its preflop equity is ahead of most hands. At 15BB, from early position you can raise to 2BB and call a 3-bet shove; from late position you can shove or raise. At 20BB, from early position raise to 2.5BB, from late position raise to 3BB; when facing a 3-bet, you can call or shove, but avoid a 4-bet pot.
