AQo is the offsuit combination of AQ, with lower preflop equity than AQs. It is easily dominated by QQ and Qs suited, and often suffers from kicker issues postflop. In MP, it can be opened, in CO/BTN it's a standard open, and in UTG it's mostly folded.

UTG	5-3BB. If facing a 3-bet, against a tight-passive player you can call, against a loose-aggressive player you can 4-bet to 7-9BB. Avoid playing too passively in multi-way pots.
MP	In MP, AQo is a standard open-raising hand, raising to 2.5-3 BB. If someone limps in front, you can raise to 4-5 BB to isolate. Facing a 3-bet from CO or BTN, usually call, but if the opponent's 3-bet range is tight, you can fold.
CO	5-3BB. If BTN or the blinds 3-bet, you can 4-bet or call, depending on the opponent. If the blinds are tight players, consider a limp-raise trap.
BTN	5-3BB. When facing a blind 3bet, you can 4bet or call. If SB or BB is a weak player, raise to 3-4BB to exploit. Avoid playing too aggressively in multiway pots.
SB	When facing a 3bet from BB, you can 4bet or fold, depending on the opponent. If BB is a tight player, you can call; if loose, you can 4bet.
BB	In the BB position, facing an open from CO or BTN, AQo can 3-bet to 9-12 BB, or call. If SB raises, you can 3-bet or call. Avoid playing too passively in multi-way pots, but also be careful of the vulnerability of A-high hands post-flop.

Tekstur board

Dry low-card board e.g. 7♣2♦9♠

On dry low boards, AQo often has top pair or an overpair, and can bet 1/2-2/3 pot for value. If the flop has no A or K, you can c-bet to represent strength, but be aware of potential slowplays from opponents. If raised, you need to evaluate the opponent's range.

Wet connected board e.g. 9♠8♠7♥

It can be used for a 1/3 pot semi-bluff bet, but if raised or called by multiple players, it should be folded. When it flops top pair, a 2/3 pot bet is appropriate, but attention must be paid to straight or flush draws.

g. K♠K♦7♣

If you hit top pair, you can bet 2/3 pot, but be aware that the opponent may have trips. Avoid over-bluffing.

g. A♠8♠3♠

Without a flush draw, be cautious; you can bet 1/3 pot as a semi-bluff. If raised, consider that your opponent may have made the flush.

Catatan matchup

AQo vs small pairs e.g., 66: Win rate approximately 45%, proceed with caution as small pairs have the potential to flop a set. AQo vs suited connectors e.g., JTs: Win rate approximately 58%, AQo is ahead, but suited connectors have drawing advantages on wet boards. AQo vs other Ax hands e.g., AJo: Win rate approximately 75%, AQo dominates, but beware that AJo can hit top pair with a better kicker. Post-flop, AQo should avoid building large pots against AKo or KK+, but can apply pressure against small pairs or weak Ax hands.

MTT push/fold

In MTTs, AQo is a strong hand, but when short-stacked, adjustments are needed based on stack size. At 10BB, AQo can push all-in, especially from the CO or BTN, as opponents' calling ranges are wider. At 15BB, you can raise to 2.5BB and push all-in if 3-bet. At 20BB, you can raise to 2.5BB and either 4-bet all-in or call a 3-bet depending on the opponent. From the blinds, you can also push all-in at 10BB, but be mindful of the SB or BB's calling ranges. Avoid playing too passively in multi-way pots, but also be cautious of A-high's vulnerability post-flop.
