Anthony Zinno

Anthony Zinno was born in 1981 in Cranston, Rhode Island. He earned a degree in chemical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute before attending Suffolk University Law School in Boston. After graduating law school, he passed the Massachusetts state bar exam. However, instead of practicing law, he pursued a career in professional poker.

Zinno's first major breakthrough came in September 2013 when he won the WPT Borgata Poker Open. He defeated a field of 1,189 players and topped Vanessa Selbst heads-up to claim the $825,099 first prize. This victory launched his WPT career. In 2015, he achieved a rare feat by winning back-to-back WPT titles: the Fallsview Poker Classic and the L.A. Poker Classic. The LAPC victory earned him $1,015,860 and marked his third WPT championship, tying Gus Hansen and Carlos Mortensen for the record at the time. With consistent performances throughout the season, Zinno was awarded the WPT Player of the Year for Season 13. Over his career, he has accumulated 39 WPT money finishes, including 7 final tables and 3 titles.

Zinno has also enjoyed significant success at the World Series of Poker. His first WSOP cash came in 2008 when he finished 205th in the Main Event for $38,600. At the 2015 WSOP, he cashed five times and made the final table each time, including a 7th-place finish in the $111,111 High Roller for One Drop for $565,000. He then won his first bracelet in the $25,000 High Roller Pot Limit Omaha event, earning $1,122,196. In 2019, he had a strong series with nine cashes and three final tables, winning his second bracelet in the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better for $279,920. At the 2019 WSOP Europe, he finished third in the €10,350 Main Event for €485,291. The 2021 WSOP was especially productive: he won two bracelets within days—the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship ($182,872) and the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. ($160,636). His fifth bracelet came in 2024, winning the $500 No-Limit Hold'em Fall Saver (online event) for $48,649. As of 2025, Zinno has 111 WSOP cashes and over $4.2 million in WSOP earnings alone.

Beyond his WPT and WSOP triumphs, Zinno continues to post strong results. In 2022, he finished 17th in the WPT Seminole Rock 'N' Roll Poker Open for $33,100. At the 2023 WPT Choctaw event, he placed 41st for $9,600. In 2024, he took 13th in the WPT Choctaw for $26,500. In 2025, he finished 20th in the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star Championship for $28,500. Most recently, in 2026, he placed 5th in the WPT Venetian Las Vegas Spring Championship for $114,000. He also has deep runs in PGT events and WSOP Paradise tournaments, including a 50th-place finish in the $25K Super Main Event for $180,000 in 2025.

Zinno earned the nickname "The Professor" due to his analytical and patient approach to the game. He is known for his proficiency in mixed games and his ability to adjust strategies across different variants. His disciplined style and deep understanding of game theory have made him a respected figure in the poker community. With total live tournament earnings exceeding $12 million and a ranking of 124th on the all-time money list, Zinno stands as one of the most accomplished multi-discipline players of his generation.
