Early Life and Background

Cecilia Nordenstam was born on October 11, 1979, in Gothenburg, Sweden. Before becoming a professional poker player, she worked as a dealer at Casino Cosmopol in Gothenburg while studying psychology at university. However, she soon abandoned her studies to pursue a full-time career in poker.

Move to Professional Poker

After a successful start playing online poker, Nordenstam quit her job as a dealer in 2004 and switched to the other side of the table. As a single mother, she supported herself and her son through online play and live casino games. Her skills caught the attention of fellow Swedish pro Martin De Knijff, who invited her to join Team Martinspoker alongside players like William Thorson, Ken Lennaárd, Alexander Stevic, and Christer Björin.

Breakthrough and Sponsorship

Nordenstam's biggest recorded tournament cash came on April 6, 2005, when she finished fifth in the $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em event at the Third Annual Five-Star World Poker Classic in Las Vegas, earning $24,695. She also cashed in her first four WPT events, creating a media buzz both in Sweden and internationally.

In 2006, Nordenstam signed a one-year deal with Svenska Spel, the Swedish government-owned gambling company, as their spokesperson and poker face, taking over from Ken Lennaárd. Later Career

After her partnership with Svenska Spel ended in 2007, Nordenstam continued to play poker, including private trips to the WSOP.
