Darrell Hopkins-Young, better known by his online screen name "Gigabet", began his career as an online top ranked professional tournament player. He transitioned to live events, where he quickly made a name for himself.

Hopkins-Young has cashed at seven World Poker Tour (WPT) championship events, making the final six-handed table in two of them. His largest live cash came in the $10,000 No Limit Hold'em WSOP Circuit Championship, where he won $372,780. He also finished 5th in the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $241,495, and took 3rd in the WPT Mirage Poker Showdown for $259,369. In April 2008, he won the $2,500 No Limit Hold'em event at the Sixth Annual Five Star World Poker Classic, earning $248,800. Additionally, he won $169,917 at the Foxwoods Poker Classic in 2007.
