Ioannis Kapnopoulos

Ioannis Kapnopoulos, also known online as metal_ouda, started his poker journey in February 2015 playing Sit & Go tournaments. Turning serious in 2016, he quickly climbed the stakes from NL5 to NL200 zoom on PokerStars, achieving significant winrates and a 50k-hand winning sample at NL200z. He also recorded notable online scores, including 13th place in the WSOP Online #18: $525 Main Event for $24,535 in April 2022.

Kapnopoulos has made his mark on the European Poker Tour (EPT) circuit. At EPT Prague in December 2022, he finished 47th in the €5,300 Main Event, earning €17,400. He also cashed in the Eureka Main Event (€1,100) in March 2022, taking 103rd for €4,660. His consistent deep runs demonstrate his ability to compete against the world’s best.

At the World Series of Poker, Kapnopoulos has recorded nine total cashes with combined earnings of $67,879. His best live result came in June 2026, placing 7th in Event #26: $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em for $38,868. Other WSOP scores include 30th in the $800 MONSTER STACK ($6,063) and 135th in the BIG 500 ($2,647). He also cashed in the 2025 WSOP $3,000 Freezeout for $7,050.

Since 2018, Kapnopoulos has been an expert coach at PokerVIP, specializing in NL50 and NL100 students. His teaching focuses on exploitative adjustments, range analysis, and improving the "red line" (non-showdown winnings). He offers one-on-one sessions via Skype and has shared his strategies on Twitch and YouTube. His own graphs show strong winrates across multiple stakes.

Known for an aggressive, pressure-based approach, Kapnopoulos excels at applying constant force in deep-stacked situations. He combines this aggression with sharp hand-reading skills, often forcing opponents into tough decisions. His style is rooted in the Greek poker tradition of fearless yet calculated play.
