Jimmy Hu

Jimmy Hu grew up in Canada and pursued a degree in Mathematics & Finance at Concordia University. He later worked as a Credit Risk Manager at Scotiabank and completed a Summer Finance Manager internship at Bell, demonstrating a strong foundation in analytical thinking and risk management.

Hu’s breakout moment came in December 2016 at the Norwegian Poker Challenge, held aboard the Norwegian Epic cruise ship. The $1,100 Main Event attracted 337 players, creating a $337,000 prize pool. As a 25-year-old amateur playing his first live tournament, Hu emerged victorious, earning $84,250. He defeated Peter Magarelli heads-up when his A4 held against Magarelli’s pocket nines on a board of A-8-2-T-K. Hu later remarked, “I came to play with confidence, but I never thought I would win. This was my first live event.”

Under the screen name "Gj Hu," Jimmy Hu has recorded multiple cashes at the World Series of Poker (WSOP). His notable results include:
