John Andlovec

John Andlovec, also known as "Hippie Jon," was a farmer before turning to poker professionally. He describes himself as a "hardcore hippie" and has been around the game for decades, calling himself "a walking historian about poker." He was present at the 2003 World Series of Poker when Chris Moneymaker won the Main Event, recalling that Moneymaker "was scurrying about trying to sell his buy-in for $8,000, but he didn't know whom to bribe, they forced him to play, and poker changed forever."

Andlovec's tournament results date back to the early 1990s. In 1990, he finished fourth in WSOP Event #12: $2,500 Limit Hold'em, earning $38,100. The following year, he placed sixth in WSOP Event #5: $2,500 Limit Hold'em for $17,763. These early cashes established him as a consistent competitor in limit hold'em events.

The pinnacle of Andlovec's career came at the 2015 World Series of Poker, when he won the inaugural $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold'em Championship. The event, exclusively for players aged 65 and older, attracted 1,533 entrants and built a prize pool of $1,379,700. Andlovec, then 70 years old, outlasted the field to claim the title and the first-place prize of $262,220, along with his first WSOP gold bracelet. He defeated Rod Pardey heads-up, with Pardey earning $162,100 as runner-up. Andlovec also overcame decorated opponents such as three-time bracelet winner Perry Green, who finished deep in the event. He dedicated the victory to his daughter, who was getting married soon.

Beyond the WSOP, Andlovec has recorded numerous tournament wins, including four five-figure scores in Reno. His lifetime tournament earnings have grown to over $974,000, with consistent deep runs in smaller-buy-in events contributing to his total.
