Jon Hoellein

Jon Hoellein began appearing on the tournament circuit in the late 2000s. One of his earliest notable moments came in October 2008 at the North American Poker Championship held at Fallsview Casino Resort. During that event, Hoellein won a massive pot when he flopped the nut straight with 7-6 suited against Noah Schwartz's pocket sevens and another opponent's pocket deuces. The hand crippled Schwartz and demonstrated Hoellein's ability to extract maximum value from strong made hands.

Over the following years, Hoellein steadily built his resume with cashes in WSOP Circuit events and major series. In November 2017, he finished 10th in the $1,675 Main Event at the WSOP Circuit Harrah's Cherokee, earning $21,174. Earlier that same month, he also cashed in the $365 Multi-Flight Re-entry event at the same venue, taking home $1,406.

Hoellein has been a consistent presence at the World Series of Poker, accumulating 62 career cashes and over $542,000 in WSOP earnings alone. His best WSOP finish came in 2018 when he placed sixth in the $1,111 Little One for One Drop No-Limit Hold'em event, banking $106,822. That result remains his largest single tournament payout.

In the 2017 WSOP Main Event, Hoellein finished 263rd out of a massive field, earning $40,181. He also cashed in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed Championship that same year, finishing 29th for $22,336. More recent WSOP results include a 42nd-place finish in the $600 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em / Pot-Limit Omaha Deepstack in 2024 ($5,053), a 63rd-place finish in the $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed in 2024 ($4,516), and a 118th-place finish in the $1,500 Pick Your PLO event in 2026 ($3,027). He also cashed in the 2025 WSOP Main Event, finishing 1069th for $17,500.

Beyond the WSOP, Hoellein has performed well in WSOP Circuit events and other regional tournaments. In December 2019, he finished 114th in the $1,700 Main Event at Harrah's Cherokee for $2,645, and earlier that same trip he placed 26th in a $600 Pot-Limit Omaha event for $1,056. In August 2018, he took 91st in the $1,700 Main Event at the same venue, earning $3,200.

In 2025, Hoellein cashed in the MSPT Main Event at Jack Cleveland Casino, finishing 58th out of 824 entries for $2,405. His consistent results across buy-ins ranging from $300 to $10,000 highlight his adaptability and bankroll management.

While detailed strategy analysis is limited, Hoellein's tournament results suggest a solid, patient style with a strong grasp of multiple game formats. His deep run in the 2018 Little One for One Drop, where he outlasted over 4,000 players, indicates an ability to navigate large-field tournaments. His frequent cashes in Pot-Limit Omaha and mixed games also show a willingness to step outside No-Limit Hold'em.
