Lee Jones

Lee Jones earned a B.S. in Computer Science from Duke University in 1978 and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland in 1983. Before entering the poker world, he worked as an engineer at IBM, SGI, and Matrix Semiconductor.

PokerStars (2003–2007, 2011–2018)

Jones joined PokerStars in October 2003 as the cardroom manager, where he decided which tournaments and games to offer players. He left in April 2007 to work with the European Poker Tour (EPT) as an organizer, host, and commentator, while still consulting for PokerStars. He returned to PokerStars in 2011 as Head of Home Games and later served as Head of Poker Communications until 2018.

CardRunners (2008–2009)

In April 2008, Jones became COO of CardRunners, a poker training site, but left in 2009.

Cake Poker (2009–2010)

In May 2009, he became cardroom manager at Cake Poker, also acting as a player advocate. He resigned in December 2010, citing "strategic decisions with which I'm not comfortable."

Post-PokerStars (2019–present)

Since 2019, Jones has been a self-employed poker consultant, coach, and player. In 2019, he partnered with Tommy Angelo to create the video series PokerSimple. He also writes a monthly column for Bluff Magazine.

Jones is the author of the popular book Winning Low-Limit Hold'em, a primer on limit hold'em. In 2006, together with mathematician James Kittock, he developed the Sit and Go Endgame System (SAGE), a heads-up poker strategy that was featured in The New York Times.

Jones has limited tournament cashes. In 2014, he finished 14th in the UKIPT Isle of Man Main Event.

Jones resides in San Leandro, California. He is known for his hands-on approach and was a beloved figure during his PokerStars days, often associated with the phrase "one time Lee" among players seeking luck.
