Martin Stausholm

Martin Stausholm is a highly respected Danish poker professional who has built a career through consistency and global travel. Hailing from Hvidovre and later based in Vienna, Austria, he is one of Denmark’s most active tournament players, ranking 6th on the Danish all-time money list with over $3.3 million in live earnings according to The Hendon Mob. He holds the record for the most tournament cashes by a Danish player.

Stausholm began making his mark in live tournaments in 2011, when he cashed in two German Championship of Poker (GCOP) Main Events at Kings Casino in Rozvadov, finishing 3rd and 5th. The following year, he again placed 3rd in the GCOP Main Event for €20,080. These early results established him as a rising talent on the European circuit.

EPT Paris High Roller (2023)

Stausholm’s career-best result came at EPT Paris in 2023, where he finished 4th in the €10,300 High Roller for €277,800 (~$293,751), his largest single payout.

World Poker Tour (WPT)

He has multiple deep WPT runs, including a $138,145 score at the WPT Seminole Rock ‘n’ Roll Poker Open in Florida and a 4th-place finish in a 2023 event for $98,940.

World Series of Poker (WSOP)

A regular at the WSOP in Las Vegas, Stausholm has recorded dozens of cashes. His standout U.S. result was a victory in the 2015 Phamous Poker Series for $118,320.

Stausholm moved to Vienna in 2014 for favorable tax laws and to live with other serious players. He describes himself as an “all-or-nothing” person and treats the WSOP as a six-week camp, renting a house with a tight group and dedicating fully to poker. He values routine and consistency, which he says suits his personality.
