Matthieu Laurent discovered poker three years before turning professional. He holds a master’s degree in digital business and decided to pursue poker intensively during his final year of studies. Coached by prominent French poker educators including Crazy Donkey, Igor d’Ursel, Chotec, and Winda, he attended 4-5 coaching sessions per week and rapidly developed a structured understanding of the game, eventually reaching the highest stakes on the .fr market.

Laurent’s live tournament results span several years. His early notable performance came in June 2015 when he finished 3rd in the Winamax Sismix Main Event (€530 buy-in) out of 872 players, earning €30,088. In May 2016, he placed 86th in the same event (€550 buy-in) for €1,106. The following year, he finished 73rd in the Sismix 6,000 MAD Main Event out of 1,078 players, taking 12,000 MAD. In October 2018, he achieved a 7th-place finish in the Dream Poker Tour €800 event, winning €4,900 from 121 entrants.

More recently, Laurent has added significant titles to his résumé. He won the Championnat de France (French Championship) in September 2025. He also made his first World Series of Poker Main Event appearance. In December, he recorded a major performance at the PokerStars Open de Cannes, earning €42,000. Additionally, he finished 2nd in the Starflight Space KO €100 event for €36,000. These results reflect consistent progression and success in both live and online tournaments.

Matthieu Laurent is described as a complete player who performs well in diverse environments.
