Miguel Sarmento

Miguel Sarmento first appeared in the Portuguese live tournament scene in the late 2000s. His earliest recorded result is a 4th-place finish in the PokerStars Solverde Poker Season (SPS) Etapa #11 in Chaves, in November 2009, earning €2,795. That event drew 246 entries with a €110 buy-in, and Sarmento reached the final table, eventually eliminated by eventual winner Miguel Sá Pereira.

Sarmento continued to perform well in the SPS circuit over the following years. In February 2016, he finished 5th in SPS Etapa #3, held at Casino Figueira, earning €4,593. The tournament had a €300 buy-in and 251 entrants. The final hand saw his A♣J♦ lose to Hugo Silva's pocket queens. In January 2017, at SPS Etapa #1, Sarmento eliminated Manuel Miranda (who held A♠10♠) when Sarmento’s pocket kings held up, though his final placement from that event is not detailed. Later in 2017, at SPS Etapa #4, he was eliminated in 10th place by Carlos Pires after his A♡9♡ failed to improve against Pires’ K♢K♧.

In 2011, Sarmento was a standout in the KnockOut Figueira Poker Tour, tying with Emanuel Jesus for the most KO points (17 points) after the first three stages.
