Roman Lakatos

Roman Lakatoš (also spelled Roland Lakatoš in some records) is a Slovak poker player and former sports bettor who has built a steady career through live tournament grind and disciplined money management. He gained prominence by winning the German Poker Tour in Rozvadov and has consistently cashed in events across Europe. Lakatoš is also a passionate tennis follower and live-betting specialist.

Before focusing on poker, Lakatoš earned a living primarily through sports betting, specializing in tennis. He chooses to play in Rozvadov because the opposition is weaker, richer, and less stingy than in Bratislava. He is a volume-oriented player, gradually increasing his tournament frequency from once a month in early 2015 to nearly every week from January 2016 onward. His style is likely tight-aggressive, with a focus on value betting and minimizing unnecessary risks.

Outside poker, Lakatoš is an avid tennis fan and player. He started playing tennis after he began betting on it, finding that playing the sport helped him better understand players’ mindsets. He follows the tour closely, attending tournaments in multiple European countries. He has stated that he prefers live betting because he can gauge momentum and energy in real time. Despite his poker success, he maintains a low profile and avoids media attention.
