Wayne Newcomb

Wayne Newcomb is an American poker player who has made a mark in the live tournament scene. His most notable achievement to date is a second-place finish in the 2023 RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) Tunica Main Event.

The $600 buy-in Main Event at Horseshoe Casino in Tunica attracted 718 entrants, creating a prize pool of $373,360. Newcomb navigated through the field to reach the final table as a chip leader. After several eliminations, he faced Loi Hoang heads-up. The two players agreed to a deal, each taking $55,394. Newcomb’s $55,394 payday was a career-best score.

At the final table, Newcomb quickly regained the chip lead after a key hand against Dawson Darbouze. Darbouze moved all-in with ace-queen on a queen-high board, but Newcomb held queen-nine for top two pair, eliminating Darbouze in ninth place. Newcomb later outlasted other notable players including 2003 WSOP Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker, who finished fourth, and WSOP Circuit ring winners Shannon Hamblen and Matthew Higgins.
