20大盲注泡沫期打法(20bb Bubble Play)

20bb Bubble Play

A specific strategy and decision-making framework for holding approximately 20 big blinds during the tournament bubble phase when nearing the money.

Overview

20bb Bubble Play refers to the strategy for playing when a tournament is near the money bubble and a player's stack is around 20 big blinds. At this stage, due to significant [ICM] ([Independent Chip Model]) pressure, normal chip values become distorted. Bubble players need to adjust their opening ranges, raise sizes, and call frequencies.

Key Considerations

  • [ICM Pressure]: Being eliminated during the bubble means losing the chance to reach the money, so risk aversion increases. A player with 20bb still has some preflop threat but limited postflop maneuverability, and must avoid unnecessary large pot confrontations.
  • [Position Advantage]: On the button or in the small blind, 20bb can be used to steal blinds moderately, especially against tight-passive players. In early position, however, ranges should be tightened to avoid being squeezed by big stacks.
  • Opponent Stack Distribution: Against short stacks (<10bb), you can apply pressure to force folds; against big stacks (>40bb), avoid getting involved in large pots unless holding a strong hand.

Strategy Examples

  • Preflop: At 20bb, a "push or fold" strategy is common. Medium-strength hands (e.g., [AJo], [KQo]) can be considered for shoving, especially against players with high fold equity. Small pairs (e.g., [66]-[99]) can also be shoved in position. Weak hands (e.g., small suited connectors) should be folded directly.
  • [Calling Range]: Calling an all-in requires stronger hands, typically around [ATs]+ or [99]+. Due to bubble [ICM], avoid risking marginal hands.
  • Raise Size: If choosing a standard raise (2.5-3bb), the remaining stack allows for one continuation bet postflop, but postflop play can become tricky. Therefore, shoving is often superior in most situations.

Notes

During the [bubble], the 20bb strategy must be flexibly adjusted based on tournament structure, opponent tendencies, and payout structure. If the prize jump is large (e.g., a big increase from 10th to 9th place), play more conservatively; if the payouts are flat, you can be slightly more aggressive.
