Auto Post

Overview

Auto Post is a convenience feature offered by online poker platforms. When a player temporarily steps away from their computer or mobile device, the system automatically posts the big blind or small blind on their behalf in each hand, preventing forced removal from the table or penalties due to missed actions.

How It Works

Typically, players can enable the "Auto Post" option in the client settings. Once activated, when the player's turn to post a blind arrives, the system deducts the appropriate blind amount (big blind or small blind) from their stack and immediately deals the hand. If the player is away, the hand may be automatically folded by the system (depending on platform settings), or the player can continue playing upon return.

Use Cases

• Brief absences: When stepping away briefly (e.g., answering a phone call, using the restroom), this feature prevents losing the blind position or being forced to leave the table.
• Multi-tabling: When playing multiple tables simultaneously, a player may occasionally miss a blind posting opportunity; auto post helps maintain table order.

Notes

• Auto Post applies only to cash games or certain tournaments (especially fast structures). In tournaments, if a player is absent for an extended period, even with auto post, their chips will gradually deplete.
• On some platforms, after auto posting, the system automatically folds the hand, resulting in the player losing blinds without ever participating in the hand; other platforms allow the player to continue playing upon return.
• This feature is not equivalent to "auto call" or "auto raise"; it only handles blind payments.
