BB on Rainbow River is a poker term. BB stands for Bottom Pair, and Rainbow River refers to when the river card makes the board show three different suits, meaning no flush draw is possible. This term is typically used to describe a situation on the river where a player holds the smallest pair on the board, and the board's suit distribution eliminates any flush threat.

Hand Analysis

On the river, the value of bottom pair is usually low, especially when the board is rainbow. A rainbow board means the possibility of straight or flush draws has disappeared, and the opponent's made hand range leans more toward strong pairs, two pair, or sets. When a player holds bottom pair, in most cases they can only beat pure bluffs or weaker hands (such as high cards or middle pair).

Common Strategies

• Position Factor: When in position, if the opponent shows passivity, you can try a value bet, but you must consider whether the opponent holds a hand stronger than bottom pair.
• Opponent's Range: If the opponent has been betting consistently on the flop and turn, bottom pair is usually not good enough to call on the river, unless the opponent has a clear bluffing tendency.
• Pot Control: It is recommended that players mainly check or make small bets to avoid being trapped by larger pairs or hands of two pair or better.

Typical Scenario

• Board: K♠ Q♦ J♥ T♠ (turn) — river card: 7♣ (rainbow), player's hand: T♥ (bottom pair).
• At this point, no flush is possible. The opponent could hold a straight (A9, 98), two pair (KQ, KJ, etc.), or a set. Bottom pair has almost no chance of winning.

Bottom pair on a rainbow river is a marginal hand. Players need to combine pot odds, previous actions, and opponent tendencies to decide whether to continue. In multiway pots, bottom pair is usually only suitable for checking and showing down, and should not be overly aggressive.
