大盲位彩虹翻牌漂浮(BB River Float Rainbow)
A floating strategy executed by the Big Blind on a rainbow flop three different suits, i.e., calling on the flop with plans to bet or raise on later streets.
Overview
BB River Float Rainbow is a float strategy executed by the Big Blind player on a rainbow flop (three cards of different suits). The core idea: the Big Blind calls a C-Bet on the flop with a relatively wide range instead of raising or folding, intending to take down the pot with a bet or raise on the turn or river.
Conditions for Execution
- Position: Big Blind (out of position).
- Flop Texture: Rainbow, meaning all three flop cards are of different suits. This eliminates the opponent's possibility of a flush draw, reducing drawing threats on the flop.
- Opponent Tendency: Typically used against opponents who C-Bet frequently but have a high fold rate when facing aggression on the turn or river.
- Hand Strength Range: The Big Blind usually holds marginal or medium-strength hands such as bottom pair, gutshot straight draws, or complete air. The aim is to exploit the dryness of the flop (no flush draws) to represent a strong hand.
Strategy Logic
The rainbow flop reduces the types of draws the opponent may hold, making it easier for the Big Blind to represent made hands (e.g., top pair or overpair). Typical execution:
- Flop: Big Blind calls the opponent's C-Bet.
- Turn: If the turn card is a blank (making the board even drier), the Big Blind leads out or check-raises to apply pressure.
- River: Similarly, based on the opponent's reaction, choose to bet or check.
Risks and Adjustments
- Risks: Floating out of position increases costs. If the opponent has a strong hand or chooses to double-barrel, the Big Blind may find themselves in a difficult spot.
- Adjustments: Avoid using this strategy on flops that are too connected (e.g., with many straight draws). Also, balance the range to prevent being exploited by frequent aggression.
Typical Example
Consider a 6-max cash game. The Big Blind defends preflop. The flop is K♠ 7♦ 2♣ (rainbow). The small blind makes a C-Bet. The Big Blind holds 9♥ 8♥ and calls. The turn is J♠. The Big Blind bets, forcing the opponent to fold.
