Poker Term

大盲位河牌湿润面公开下注(BB River Open Wet)

The action of the big blind player making the first bet on the river when the board texture is wet there are multiple possible draws or made hands.

Position and Timing

  • Position: BB (Big Blind) refers to the last position to act preflop, but is out of position postflop.
  • Timing: This term specifically refers to the river, where the player in the Big Blind is first to act (no previous bet) and makes an open bet.

Board Texture: "Wet"

  • Wet board: A river board with multiple possible draws (e.g., straight draws, flush draws) or multiple made hands (e.g., possible backdoor flushes, straights). Typical example: board 8♥9♥10♠J♥Q♣ with various straight and flush possibilities.
  • Contrast with dry boards: Dry boards (e.g., rainbow with no straight draws) are less suitable for this strategy.

Strategic Significance

  • Value bet: The BB player may hold a made hand (e.g., top pair, two pair or better) and bets on a wet board to extract value from opponent's draws or weaker made hands.
  • Bluff: The BB may also hold missed draws (e.g., uncompleted flush or straight draws) and use the wet board to represent having hit a hand, forcing opponent folds.
  • Polarized range: On wet river boards, the BB's betting range is typically polarized — either strong hands (value) or air (bluffs), with fewer medium-strength hands.

Notes

  • Opponent tendencies: Betting on wet river boards requires careful consideration of opponent's fold equity. If the opponent tends to call bluffs, bluffing success rates decrease.
  • Bet sizing: Usually uses larger bets (e.g., 75% pot or more) to maximally exploit opponent's drawing range while reducing their pot odds.
  • Example: Suppose BB defends preflop, heads-up. Flop A♠K♠8♣, turn 2♦, river 10♠. The board has two spades and a possible straight (Q-J makes a straight), making it wet. BB may consider betting with a flush or straight, or bluff with no pair.
