翻前按钮位冷跟注静态(BTN Preflop Cold Call Static)

Refers to the situation where, after someone has raised pre-flop, the button player directly calls without having invested any dead money, and their calling range does not dynamically adjust based on opponents or the situation.

Overview

BTN Preflop Cold Call Static is a concept in poker strategy that specifically refers to a button (BTN) player cold calling a raise preflop, with a static calling range that does not adjust based on opponent type, position, bet size, or historical information.

Meaning of Cold Call

A cold call occurs when a player calls a raise without having previously posted a blind or made a voluntary bet. For example, UTG raises, and the BB calls – this is a cold call (since the BB has already posted the blind). However, a BTN cold call means the BTN, who has no blind or other investment, calls the raise directly. Cold calling is generally considered a weak play because it forfeits preflop initiative and requires a deep stack.

Special Nature of the Button

The button is the only position that retains positional advantage postflop, so the cold calling range can be slightly wider. However, a static range means the player's calling range is a fixed set of hand combinations—such as medium pairs, suited connectors, or small suited aces—that does not change based on the opponent's raise frequency, stack size, or other factors.

Static vs. Dynamic

A static range is usually not dominant in GTO (Game Theory Optimal) strategy, as equilibrium strategies require adjustments based on opponent tendencies. Static strategies are more common among beginners or in simplified strategies; they simplify decisions and reduce leaks but are easily exploitable. Dynamic adjustments involve varying frequencies and ranges according to different opponents, a hallmark of advanced players.

Example

Suppose a player on the BTN faces a raise from UTG. Their static cold calling range is defined as: 77-JJ, A9s-AQs, KJs-KQs, QJs, JTs, T9s, 98s. This range remains unchanged regardless of the opponent. In contrast, a dynamic strategy might 3-bet more against a tight-passive player and fold more against a loose-aggressive player.
