Therefore, the Button's re-raise requires very strong hand strength (such as top pair top kicker or better) for value, or as an extremely rare balancing bluff (to be used only against specific opponents and ranges).
Application Scenarios
Typical scenario: The river board is K♠ 7♦ 2♣ 5♥ 3♦ (dry and no straight or flush possible). The opponent bets on the river, and the Button holds K♥ K♦ (three of a kind) or A♠ K♠ (top pair top kicker), and can 3-bet to maximize value. If the Button holds air, they will rarely choose to bluff in this scenario because opponents are less likely to fold on a dry board.
Opponent Response
Facing a Button dry river 3-bet, opponents need to evaluate carefully. Since there is little room for bluffing on a dry board, opponents should narrow their calling range to strong hands (such as two pair or better) and avoid paying off with marginal made hands. At the same time, opponents may consider folding medium-strength hands.
