按钮位河牌彩虹面反主动下注(BTN River Donk Bet Rainbow)

On the button, when the river board is a rainbow three different suits, no flush possible, the action of a player making a donk bet.

Term Composition

  • BTN: Button, positional advantage. In theory, a Donk Bet should not occur here because typically the pre-flop raiser (or the player with positional advantage) makes the continuation bet.
  • River: The final betting round.
  • Donk Bet: A donk bet (or donk-bet) is when a player who was passive (called or checked) on the previous street leads out betting on the current street.
  • Rainbow: A rainbow board refers to three community cards all of different suits, eliminating the possibility of a flush draw.

Strategic Background

Traditional theory holds that Donk Bets are most common on the flop or turn, and typically come from players out of position (e.g., the blinds) against a pre-flop raiser. River Donk Bets are already rare, and doing so from the BTN (the best position) is even more unusual. It usually means:

  • The player employed a check-call strategy on the flop and turn, then made a hand on the river and tries to lead out for value.
  • Or it's a bluff, leveraging the rainbow board (no flush possible) to represent hitting a straight or a set.

Impact of Rainbow Board

A rainbow board (Rainbow) means no flush is possible on the river, so all of the opponent’s flush draws have missed. Therefore, the Donk Bet range is more heavily weighted towards made hands (two pair or better) or pure polarized bluffs (e.g., turning air into a bluff).

Typical Example

Suppose a player on the BTN called a pre-flop raise with 7♠8♠. The flop is A♦9♣5♥ (rainbow), turn is 2♦. The player check-calls both streets. The river is 6♣ (giving a 7-8-9-6-5 straight possibility). At this point, the player leads out betting — this is a BTN River Donk Bet on a rainbow board.

Notes

  • Because the BTN has a positional advantage, leading out should be extremely rare, unless there is a specific hand type or read on the opponent.
  • The rainbow board limits the opponent’s flush draws from the flop, making the bet more credible.
