CO位4bet底池河牌策略(CO 4-Bet Pot River Strategy)

CO 4-Bet Pot River Strategy

River action strategy in a 4-bet pot formed by a CO cutoff 4-bet preflop, covering the construction of value betting, bluffing, and checking ranges.

Strategy Background

The CO position (Cutoff) is between the UTG and the button. Preflop 4bet range usually represents strong hands (such as QQ+, AK), but under different stack depths and opponent styles, it may also include some bluffs. The 4bet pot has a low stack-to-pot ratio (SPR) postflop, making river decisions more critical.

River Action Principles

  • Value Bet: When CO holds a super strong made hand (such as top pair top kicker, set or better), they should continue betting on the river to extract value. Bet sizing is typically 50%-75% of the pot; if the board is wet or the opponent's calling range is weak, it can be larger.
  • Bluff: Unmade hands in CO's 4bet range (e.g., AK that missed postflop) can be used as bluffs on the river, but should be chosen on boards favorable for opponent fold frequency (e.g., high cards missed with straight and flush draws). Bluff frequency should be adjusted according to opponent's fold tendencies to avoid over-bluffing.
  • Check Range: Some medium-strength hands (e.g., top pair weak kicker, middle pair) can be used to check-call to defend against opponent's bets; very weak hands (e.g., small pairs that missed) directly check-fold.

Range Construction Example

Typical 4bet range (about 3%-5% of starting hands) distribution on the river:

  • Value Bet: AA, KK, top pair top kicker AK (if it hit top pair postflop), etc.
  • Check-Call: AK (missed but failed draws), QQ (if the board has an A or K).
  • Bluff: AQ or AJ (missed and board favorable for bluffing), but frequency must be strictly controlled.

Important Notes

  • The river strategy must be consistent with flop and turn actions to avoid line contradictions.
  • The opponent's preflop calling range against a 4bet is usually tight (QQ+, AK), so their range strength should be considered on the river.
  • In multiway pots (rare), CO's actions tend to favor value betting and reduce bluffs.
