关煞位翻前下注-弃牌静态(CO Preflop Bet-Fold Static)

A static strategy of betting preflop from the cutoff CO and folding if facing a raise.

Overview

CO Preflop Bet-Fold Static is a tight-aggressive poker strategy commonly used in online multi-table cash games or early tournament stages. The player in the cutoff (CO) with above-average hand strength chooses to bet preflop but folds to a raise from an opponent (typically from the button or blinds). This strategy is executed "statically," meaning it does not adjust based on table dynamics or opponent tendencies.

Applicable Scenarios

  • Preflop Range: Typically used with hands like ATo, KQo, medium pairs (77-99), or suited connectors (e.g., JTs) – hands not suitable for slow-playing or re-raising.
  • Opponent Profile: Suitable against opponents with a tight raising range (e.g., only AA, KK) or passive players, though the static strategy ignores specific opponent tendencies.
  • Deep Stacks: Works best with effective stacks of at least 100BB, avoiding excessive preflop investment that could lead to potential losses.

Principle

The strategy rests on the assumption that after a cutoff preflop bet, a raise from an opponent typically indicates a stronger range. Folding avoids being at a disadvantage postflop. Static execution means the player does not adjust based on raise frequency, table looseness, or historical data – simplifying decisions but sacrificing the value of exploitative adjustments.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

  • Reduces preflop decision complexity, ideal for beginners or reducing fatigue.
  • Avoids trouble in marginal spots (e.g., facing a re-raise) and limits losses.

Weaknesses

  • Vulnerable to exploitation: If opponents observe this static pattern, they can profitably light-raise frequently, forcing the player to fold many profitable hands.
  • Missed value: Ignoring opponent range differences may forfeit opportunities to re-raise or call and play postflop.

Practical Example

Assume blinds 1/2, effective stacks 200BB. You are in the CO with A♠Q♣. Everyone folds to you, and you raise to 6BB. The button 3-bets to 18BB, blinds fold. According to the static strategy, you fold immediately, regardless of whether the button might be bluffing.
