Strategy Overview
This term describes a delayed c-bet strategy in a specific scenario. The player is in the CO (cutoff, first position to the right of the button) and raises preflop to enter the pot. On a rainbow flop (three cards of different suits), the player checks, then bets on the turn.
Applicable Scenarios
- When the flop is dry or unfavorable for the preflop raiser's range, the delayed bet controls the pot and avoids being raised on the flop.
- Checking the flop can induce the opponent to bet or bluff on the turn, gaining information or value.
- Rainbow boards usually reduce drawing possibilities, making a turn bet more effective.
Advantages
- Protects a weak c-betting range: checking the flop avoids committing too many chips in unfavorable spots.
