CO Turn 3-Bet Pot
CO Turn 3-Bet Pot
Term: 关煞位转牌圈3-bet底池 CO Turn 3-Bet Pot Refers to the game situation where a player in the CO position calls or raises preflop, then gets 3-bet, and after the flop, the action reaches the turn round in a 3-bet pot.
Basic Concepts
The CO Turn 3-Bet Pot describes a specific situation in No-Limit Hold'em where the Cutoff (CO) player is involved in a pot that was 3-bet preflop and has reached the turn. Typically, the CO player may have been the initial raiser preflop, then faced a 3-bet (e.g., from BTN or the blinds), and chose to call; or the CO may have entered the already 3-bet pot as a cold caller. This situation is characterized by a larger pot, a lower stack-to-pot ratio (SPR), and relatively clear and strong ranges for both sides.
Strategy Points
In a CO Turn 3-Bet Pot, player decisions are primarily influenced by:
- Range Polarization: The 3-bettor's range typically includes value hands (such as high pairs, strong A-high) and a few bluffs, while the CO caller's range leans toward medium-strength hands (such as small to medium pairs, suited connectors, A-high suited).
- Board Texture: After the turn, the dryness or wetness of the board determines the frequency of continued betting or checking. Dry boards are more likely to see players with high pairs continuation bet, while wet boards may give drawing hands more equity.
- Position: The CO still has positional advantage on the turn (unless the 3-bet came from BTN or later position), allowing them to observe the opponent's action before deciding.
- Pot Commitment Risk: Due to the larger pot, CO players should be cautious with top pair medium kicker or draws to avoid being trapped by value bets.
Typical strategy: When facing a continuation bet on the turn, CO players often call or fold with medium-strength made hands (such as top pair weak kicker, second pair), and decide whether to call with draws based on pot odds. If the CO is the aggressor (preflop 3-bettor), they continuation bet or check to control the pot based on the opponent's range.
Common Scenario Example
- CO open raise, BTN 3-bet, CO call. Flop: BTN bets, CO calls. Turn: pot size approximately 12-15 BB, effective stacks 100 BB. If the CO holds A♥K♥ on a board of A♣7♦2♠8♣, they should consider betting or raising for value. If holding Q♦J♦ on a board of 9♠8♠3♥K♥, they consider checking, calling, or folding.
