Flipout Early Stage
Flipout Early Stage
Term: Flipout Early Stage Refers to the early stage of a fast all-in type poker tournament, typically characterized by extremely short thinking time, fast blind increases, and forced all-in or fold strategies.
Overview
Flipout Early Stage is the initial phase of the "Flipout" tournament format offered by specific online poker platforms (e.g., GGPoker). This tournament format evolved from the "All-in or Fold" variant, with the core rule being that before each hand, players can only choose to go all-in or fold; there are no raise or call options. In the early stage, the blind levels are relatively low, but the stack depth is shallow (usually only 10-20 big blinds at the start), forcing players to make decisions in a very short time.
Strategic Features
- Tight-aggressive: Since there is no way to probe the pot with small raises, players must wait for strong hands (such as pocket pairs, high card combinations) before going all-in to avoid early elimination.
- Focus on starting hand ranges: In the early stage, a very tight range should be used, such as only going all-in with pocket pairs TT+ or AJs+, but the structure may vary slightly between different platforms.
- Avoid high frequency: Frequent all-ins lead to dramatic chip swings; without luck, it is easy to be eliminated before the blinds increase.
Comparison with Other Stages
As the blinds increase rapidly, the Flipout tournament enters the middle stage, where the average stack depth is even shallower, and the frequency and range of all-ins need to be expanded. The early stage is the only window where one can accumulate chips relatively conservatively; once missed, the subsequent play will be forced into pure double-up gambling.
Note
"Flipout" is not a standard poker term and is only popular on a few online poker platforms. There is no corresponding concept in traditional tournaments, so it must be treated separately.
