劫位河牌同花面下注-弃牌(HJ River Bet-Fold Monotone)
HJ River Bet-Fold Monotone
hj-river-bet-fold-monotone The strategy of betting first on the river from the hijack position when the board is monotone, then folding to a raise.
Strategy Background
HJ River Bet-Fold Monotone is a defensive betting strategy under specific board textures. The core scenario: the player is in the Hijack position (HJ, the second seat to the right of the button), and the community cards on the river form a monotone board (all five community cards are of the same suit). In this situation, the player makes an active bet, but folds immediately if the opponent raises.
Principle Analysis
A monotone board is a highly polarized structure. If the player does not hold a flush, their bet typically represents two types of hands:
- Value hands: made flushes or full houses and other strong hands, hoping to get paid by weaker hands;
- Bluff hands: no flush but trying to represent one, aiming to force opponents with medium-strength hands to fold.
When an opponent raises, it often indicates they hold a genuine flush or an even stronger hand. Since the Hijack is out of position (the Button and Small Blind have yet to act), facing a raise means no free showdown, and the player’s betting range contains many bluffs, so folding is a reasonable choice.
Applicable Conditions
- Board characteristics: The river is a complete monotone board with no paired cards (to prevent full houses).
- Opponent tendencies: The opponent rarely bluff-raises on monotone river boards.
- Own range: The betting range has an appropriate value-to-bluff ratio, and the bluffing portion lacks showdown value.
Risks and Notes
This strategy can be exploited by aggressive opponents: if they notice that the Hijack frequently bet-folds on such boards, they might raise with marginal hands as a bluff. Therefore, adjustments should be made based on opponent history and frequency.
Example
Community cards: A♠ K♠ 6♠ 2♠ 9♠ (all spades). The Hijack holds Q♦ J♦, no spades. The Hijack bets 2/3 pot, the Button raises to pot size. The Hijack folds.
