HJ位河牌彩虹面下注-弃牌(HJ River Bet-Fold Rainbow)

HJ River Bet-Fold Rainbow

hj-river-bet-fold-rainbow A strategy of betting on the river when in the hijack HJ position on a rainbow board three different suits, with the plan to fold if facing a raise from the opponent.

Term Analysis

HJ River Bet-Fold Rainbow is a compound strategy term consisting of three parts: position (HJ), action (Bet-Fold), and board texture (Rainbow). It is typically used to describe a situation where a player employs a bet-fold strategy on the river, and this decision is related to the suit structure of the river board (rainbow, i.e., all three cards are of different suits).

Scope of Application

This term mainly appears in deep-stacked or regular games, when a player enters the flop from the hijack position (Hijack, i.e., two seats to the right of the button), and after actions on the flop and turn, finally faces a rainbow board on the river. A rainbow board usually means a flush is impossible, so the player's bet may be more focused on value betting or as a bluff. However, considering the positional disadvantage (HJ acts after the button on the river, etc.), if raised after betting, it often indicates the opponent holds a strong hand, so folding is chosen.

Strategic Logic

  • Reason for Betting: A rainbow board reduces the chance that opponents have completed draws, so betting can extract thin value or force opponents with marginal hands to fold.
  • Reason for Folding: Since HJ is not the last to act on the river, facing a raise means the opponent's range is usually polarized or very strong, while the player's own betting range likely lacks strong hands that can call the raise. Thus, folding minimizes losses.

Example

Suppose a player in HJ holds top pair, the flop and turn are both rainbow structures, and the river is another off-suit card, completing the rainbow board. The player bets about 2/3 of the pot, and the button player raises three times. At this point, the player should consider that the button may hold two pair or a set, and choose to fold.

Notes

This term is not a standard term; it is more of a strategic description rather than a well-established specialized term. In actual play, it must be combined with opponent tendencies, table dynamics, and other factors for a comprehensive judgment, and should not be applied mechanically.
