HJ河牌静态挤压(HJ River Squeeze Static)

A poker strategy where a player in the hijack HJ position, facing a bet on the river, raises squeezes with a fixed range without adjusting based on opponent or board dynamics.

Overview

HJ River Squeeze Static is a strategy used on the river in Texas Hold'em, primarily applied in cash games or tournaments. Its core concept is that when a player is in the hijack position (HJ, the seat two to the right of the button) and reaches the river facing an opponent's bet, the HJ player predefines a fixed range of hands to raise (i.e., squeeze), which does not change based on the opponent's bet size, board texture, or hand history.

Strategy Principles

The static squeeze strategy aims to simplify decision-making and leverage positional advantage. The HJ typically has a wide opening range preflop, but on the river, static squeeze is mainly applicable in these situations:

  • The HJ holds a strong hand (e.g., made hand or completed draw) and believes a raise will extract value.
  • To avoid overthinking on the river or being exploited by opponents. However, the downside of a static strategy is that observant opponents can identify it and adjust their betting or folding behavior accordingly.

Applicable Scenarios

  • The opponent's river betting range is wide or weak.
  • The board structure favors the HJ's raising range (e.g., dry board).
  • Late in a tournament when ICM pressure is low, it can be used to simplify decisions.

Notes

Static squeeze is not optimal in high-level play, as opponents may detect the HJ's fixed range and fold or re-raise when necessary. A dynamically adjusted squeeze strategy is usually superior.

Example

Assume the HJ is heads-up with the button on the river. The board is K♠9♦5♣3♥2♠. The opponent bets 2/3 pot. The HJ uses a static squeeze range: raises only with top pair or better, or strong hands like flushes, and just calls with all medium-made hands. This range is fixed and does not change based on the opponent's betting patterns.
