轻跟注调整(Light Float Adjustment)
Light Float Adjustment
Strategic adjustment against opponents who call with a wide range on the flop light float to steal pots on later streets.
Overview
Light Float Adjustment is a poker strategy response to opponents using the "light float" tactic. A light float refers to a player calling on the flop with a wider range than usual, aiming to take down the pot on later streets by betting or raising when the opponent shows weakness. This behavior is common among aggressive players against conservative ones.
Adjustment Methods
- Tighten your calling range: When you notice an opponent frequently floating, reduce the number of weak hands you call on the flop and use more value hands.
- Increase continuation betting frequency: When c-betting on the flop, choose board structures that leave little room for float players to exploit.
- Use check-raise: On the turn or river, check with strong hands to induce a bet from float players, then raise.
- Adjust bet sizing: Increase your flop bet size to lower the opponent's expected value for calling, forcing them to fold weak hands.
Considerations
Light float adjustment requires accurately identifying how often your opponent floats. If your opponent rarely floats, over-adjusting will cost you value. In practice, adjust dynamically based on opponent data (such as flop call frequency and later-street betting frequency).
Example
- On the flop: Player A continuation bets, Player B calls with bottom pair (a float). On the turn, A checks, B bets, and A folds.
- After adjustment: In a similar spot, A instead continuation bets with top pair and calls B's turn bet, winning the pot.
