"Min Click" (or "min-click") is poker slang for a minimum raise. In no-limit hold'em, the minimum raise must be at least the size of the largest previous bet or raise in the current betting round. For example, if an opponent bets 100 chips, a min-click would be a raise to 200 chips (a 100-chip increase). The term originates from online poker, where players can click the "Raise" button once to automatically input the minimum raise amount.
Strategic Considerations
A min-click is often viewed as a weak or passive move, especially when facing a bet. It can indicate a marginal hand that wants to see a cheap showdown or induce a re-raise. However, it can also be used as a trapping or balancing strategy. Skilled players may min-click in specific spots:
- As a bluff: A min-click on the river can represent a thin value raise, potentially forcing folds from medium-strength hands.
- In position: On the button, a min-click against a blind's bet can keep the pot small while maintaining aggression.
