Poker Term

翻牌圈中间位置对同花牌面公开下注(MP Flop Open Monotone)

In the flop round, the middle position player's initial bet on a monotone board all three cards of the same suit.

Position and Terminology Analysis

MP (Middle Position) refers to a relatively late middle position at the table, typically after the under-the-gun position and before the cutoff. MP Flop Open Monotone describes the action where a player in this position sees three cards of the same suit on the flop and chooses to make the first bet (Open Bet).

Board Texture

Monotone Flop refers to a flop where all three cards are of the same suit, for example, three hearts. On such boards, the likelihood of strong draws (flush draws) is high, and the strength of made hands varies greatly. Players holding a flush or a flush draw have high equity, while those without a flush draw are at a disadvantage.

Betting Strategy Considerations

  • Value Bet: If a player has top pair or better with a flush draw or a made flush, a bet can be considered to extract value.
  • Semi-Bluff: When holding a flush draw, betting can gain both fold equity and draw equity.
  • Balancing Range: On a Monotone board, high cards without a flush draw (e.g., AK) are better suited for checking to avoid being put at a disadvantage after a raise. The MP betting range should include made hands, draws, and a few bluffs to protect the range.

Notes

  • The bet size on Monotone boards is typically larger (about 2/3 pot or more) to deny profitable calls for flush draws.
  • In multiway pots, MP players need to be more cautious because multiple opponents may hold flush draws.

This term emphasizes the combination of position, board texture, and betting intention, making it an important scenario for flop decision-making.
