MP 面对 4-Bet 弃牌率(MP Fold to 4-Bet)

MP Fold to 4-Bet

Middle Position MP player's frequency of folding to a 4-bet preflop, typically used as a statistical measure to evaluate their defensive range and tightness.

Overview

MP Fold to 4-Bet is a common HUD (Heads-Up Display) statistic in Texas Hold'em. It measures how often a player folds when they face a 4-Bet after having raised first from the middle position (Middle Position, approximately the 3rd seat at a 6-max table or the 3rd-4th seat at a 9-max table). This metric is often used to analyze a player's defensive tendencies when facing aggressive re-raises out of position.

Calculation Method

Typically expressed as a percentage, the formula is:

  • Numerator: Number of times the player raised first from MP, faced a 4-Bet, and folded.
  • Denominator: Total number of times the player raised first from MP and faced a 4-Bet (including all actions such as fold, call, 5-Bet, etc.). The statistic is statistically meaningful only when the sample size is sufficiently large (e.g., more than 50 such encounters).

Interpretation and Application

  • High fold rate (e.g., > 55%): Indicates that the player's raising range from MP is wide, and they tend to give up most hands when facing a 4-Bet. This implies their raising range lacks strong hands that can stand up to a 4-Bet. Opponents can exploit this tendency by 4-betting more frequently from favorable positions as a bluff.
  • Low fold rate (e.g., < 35%): Suggests that the player has strong resistance to 4-bets after raising from MP. They likely hold a large number of value hands (e.g., QQ+, AK) or tend to 5-Bet shove. Opponents should be cautious when 4-betting and consider adjusting their 4-bet range.

Position and Range Influence

The MP position sits after the under-the-gun position and is among the earlier middle positions. A player's raising range from MP is typically stronger than from later positions like the button. Therefore, a reasonable MP Fold to 4-Bet rate should be lower than that of later positions. In a typical GTO strategy, the MP Fold to 4-Bet rate is around 40%-50%, and players may use mixed strategies with specific hand types (e.g., AQ, JJ).

Notes

This statistic should be interpreted in conjunction with other data (e.g., VPIP, PFR, Fold to 3-Bet). A high fold rate may indicate a weak range, but it could also be due to sample size bias. Additionally, the opponent's 4-bet range (value vs bluff) affects the relevance of this metric.
