Poker Term

中间位置翻牌前加注-湿润牌面弃牌(MP Preflop Raise-Fold Wet)

Refers to a strategy where a player raises preflop from middle position MP, and then if the flop is wet many draws, they choose to fold.

Overview

MP Preflop Raise-Fold Wet is a hybrid strategy combining preflop aggression with postflop caution. The player first raises from Middle Position (MP) to enter the pot, but plans to fold if the flop comes wet. A wet flop typically refers to a flop structure with multiple draw possibilities, such as two cards of the same suit or connected cards.

Strategy Principle

  • Preflop Raise: Raising from middle position can isolate weaker opponents and establish pot initiative.
  • Postflop Fold Condition: When the flop is wet, opponents are more likely to hold strong draws or made hands, and the raiser's medium-strength hands like top pair are vulnerable. To avoid being at a disadvantage in a high-variance situation with many draws, choose to fold early to limit losses.

Applicable Scenarios

  • Opponent range is narrow and aggressive, often attacking wet flops.
  • Own hand strength is medium (e.g., high pair or top pair with weak kicker), not suitable for committing large chips.
  • Preflop raise sizing is small, pot odds unfavorable against draws.

Notes

This strategy is not fixed; adjust based on opponent tendencies, stack depth, and own range. Overuse may lead to exploitation, as opponents can profit by frequent bluffing.
