中间位置河牌同花面加注-弃牌(MP River Raise-Fold Monotone)

MP River Raise-Fold Monotone

In middle position, on a monotone river board, the strategy where a player raises but folds when facing a re-raise from an opponent.

Applicable Scenarios

This term describes a situation where a player is in middle position (MP) after the flop, and after the river is dealt, the board is monotone (all five community cards are of the same suit). At this point, the player either holds a non-made hand but may force an opponent to fold through a raise, or holds a medium-strength made hand and wants to value raise, but if facing a re-raise from the opponent, chooses to fold.

Strategy Logic

  • Purpose of Raising: Usually to apply pressure on an opponent's weak range, especially when the opponent may hold an incomplete draw. On a monotone board, many players will check with low pairs or weak made hands; a raise can take down the pot.
  • Reason for Folding: When an opponent can still re-raise on the river, their range is highly likely to include a completed flush or a stronger made hand. Calling at this point would lead to greater losses, so folding is a decision to avoid negative expected value.

Notes

  • This strategy is only applicable in specific situations, considering opponent tendencies, pot size, and the player's own image.
  • Using it at an extremely high frequency may be detected and exploited by opponents, so the raising range should be balanced.
