  • Flop C-Bet: If an opponent has an excessively high fold rate to a raise after a flop continuation bet, lock that node and raise with a wider range.
  • River Value Bet: If an opponent's calling range is too narrow when facing a large river bet, lock that node and make thinner value bets or increase bluffs.
  • Specific Board Textures: For example, if an opponent always check-raises on wet boards (e.g., straight or flush draws), lock that node and adjust your betting frequency.

Cautions

Node locking relies on the predictability of the opponent's behavior. If the opponent realizes they are being exploited and adjusts their strategy, the effectiveness of node locking diminishes. Therefore, skilled players dynamically adapt and mix in GTO strategies to avoid counter-exploitation. Additionally, node locking requires a large sample of hands or real-time observation to confirm patterns. In online poker, HUDs (Heads-Up Displays) can assist, but in live poker, it relies more on experience.
