河牌5-Bet(River 5-Bet)

The fifth raise action on the river, which is a re-raise after a bet, raise, 3-bet, and 4-bet.

Overview

River 5-Bet is an extreme raise sequence occurring on the river, typically extremely rare. In standard No-Limit Texas Hold'em, common preflop raise sequences are 2-Bet (open), 3-Bet, 4-Bet, 5-Bet, etc. On the river, due to limited action rounds and a already large pot, most hands default to three raises (bet, raise, re-raise, then usually only call or fold, unless there is an unlimited raise rule).

Occurrence Scenarios

River 5-Bet only occurs under specific rules, such as in some no-limit tournaments or cash games with no raise cap. Typical scenario: Player A bets on the river, Player B raises, Player C 3-Bets, Player B 4-Bets, and Player A raises again for a 5-Bet. This often indicates Player A holds an extremely strong hand (e.g., the nuts) or attempts to force opponents out with an extreme raise.

Strategic Significance

Since hand strength is relatively clear on the river, a 5-Bet typically represents extreme strength or pure bluff. In practice, most players tend to shove all-in or fold after the third raise on the river, rarely making a fourth or fifth raise. Thus, the River 5-Bet is more of a theoretical concept and almost never occurs in actual play.

Example

Assume the pot on the river is 100. Player A bets 100, Player B raises to 300, Player C re-raises to 900 (3-Bet), Player B raises again to 2,700 (4-Bet). If Player A chooses to 5-Bet, they must raise to over 8,100. This scenario is extremely rare in real games.
