Poker Term

河牌圈湿润牌面五加注(River 5-Bet on Wet Board)

In practice, this almost never occurs in regular play and is usually a misuse of terminology or a theoretical extreme case.

Term Deconstruction

  • River: The final street in poker, i.e., the betting round after the fifth community card is dealt.
  • 5-Bet: Indicates the fifth raise, typically seen preflop (e.g., 3-bet, 4-bet, 5-bet), referring to successive levels of raising.
  • Wet Board: Refers to a board texture with strong connectivity, offering multiple drawing possibilities (e.g., flush draws, straight draws), making it easy to hit strong hands.

Actual Meaning

In standard Texas Hold'em games, the river betting round typically allows a maximum of three raises (bet-raise-re-raise, i.e., 3-bet). A "River 5-Bet" implies five raises have occurred in that round, which is virtually impossible in practice due to stack depth and raise structure rules. This term is more likely to appear in theoretical discussions or informal contexts, specifically referring to extreme raise scenarios on wet boards, but it is not a widely recognized term.

Strategic Suggestion (Example)

Even if such a scenario exists, actual strategy should still return to basics: on wet boards, be wary of opponents completing draws, and make decisions based on pot odds and opponent ranges rather than pursuing an extreme number of raises.
