河牌延迟持续下注于单花色牌面(River Delayed C-Bet on Monotone Board)

River Delayed C-Bet on Monotone Board

After checking the flop and also checking the turn, a delayed continuation bet on the river on a monotone board three suited community cards.

Concept

A delayed continuation bet refers to not making a continuation bet on the flop but instead betting on a later street (usually the turn or river). On a monotone board (three cards of the same suit on the flop), a delayed continuation bet on the river is a specific strategy typically used to represent having a flush or to polarize one’s range.

Usage and Purpose

  • Representing a Flush: On a monotone board, after checking the flop, if the river brings a fourth flush card or the board remains monotone, the bettor can indicate they have made a flush, thereby forcing opponents to fold.
  • Polarizing the Range: A delayed bet polarizes the bettor’s range—either a strong hand (like a made flush) or a bluff, with medium-strength hands (such as a pair) usually not taking this line.
  • Exploiting Opponents' Checking Range: After opponents check both the flop and turn, their ranges on the river often contain many weak hands, making a delayed bet effective at winning the pot.

Typical Example

Suppose the board is A♠ K♠ 6♠ (monotone) and the flop checks through. The turn brings 2♦, and again both players check. The river comes 9♠. A bet of about 75% of the pot is intended to represent a flush (e.g., Q♠ J♠), forcing the opponent to fold top pair or middle pair.

Notes

  • Opponent's Range: This strategy is most effective against players who frequently check both the flop and turn. If the opponent might hold a flush or a draw, exercise caution.
  • Bet Sizing: Typically use a larger bet size (e.g., two-thirds to full pot) to maximize fold equity.
  • Frequency Balancing: It is important to mix in some strong hands (e.g., T♠ 9♠) as value bets to avoid being exploited.
