Poker Term

河牌圈挤压(River Squeeze)

This term is not a standard Texas Hold'em term. It generally refers to a play on the river where one player bets, another player raises, and a third player reraises to force the first two players to fold.

Introduction

River Squeeze is literally translated as "River Squeeze", but this term is not standard usage in the poker industry, appearing more often in informal discussions or individual strategy literature. Its core concept borrows from the pre-flop squeeze play, moving the scenario to the river: after a bet and a raise occur in front, a player in late position uses positional advantage to make a large re-raise, attempting to force both the original bettor and raiser to fold and thereby win the pot directly.

Notes

  • Since there are no more community cards on the river, opponents' made hand ranges are relatively clear, making this play extremely high-risk and requiring precise hand reading and analysis of opponents' fold equity.
  • This term lacks broad consensus, and different players may have varying definitions. It is recommended to clearly describe the specific action rather than just using the term in communication.
  • In practice, this play is effective only in very few specific dynamics and typically requires holding strong blockers (such as hands that block the nut flush or straight).
