河牌湿润牌面挤压(River Squeeze on Wet Board)

In the river, when the board is wet multiple drawing possibilities and there are multiple opponents, making a large raise to force opponents to fold, similar to a pre-flop squeeze.

Term Overview

River Squeeze on Wet Board is an aggressive strategy executed on the river. It borrows from the pre-flop concept of a "squeeze," where a player makes a large raise after an initial raise and multiple callers, forcing all opponents to fold and claim dead money. On the river, this play typically occurs when the board is very wet—offering multiple potential draws (e.g., flushes, straights)—but actual made hands remain uncertain.

Applicable Scenarios

  • Board Texture: The community cards include possible flush or straight draws, such as three of a suit or a coordinated board.
  • Opponent Range: Opponents likely hold marginal made hands or draws but lack the strength to continue facing a large bet.
  • Betting Pattern: Usually, this occurs on the river: one player bets, another calls or raises, and then you make a significantly larger raise.

Key Execution Points

  1. Bet Sizing: Ensure the raise is large enough to make a call (or re-raise) unprofitable for opponents—typically 2-3 times the pot or more.
  2. Table Image: The player should have a tight or aggressive image, making opponents more inclined to believe you hold a strong hand.
  3. Risk Management: This play carries high risk since the river is the final street. If an opponent holds the nuts or a strong made hand, you face substantial losses.

Important Notes

  • Do not overuse; adjust based on opponent tendencies and range balance.
  • Effectiveness may decrease in multiway pots, as call probability increases.

Typical Example

Suppose the river board is: A♠ K♠ 10♥ 7♠ 3♠ (three of a suit). Player A bets half the pot, Player B calls. You hold a marginal hand without a flush, but you judge opponents' ranges to be mostly medium-strength hands. You raise to three times the pot. If both opponents fold, you have successfully executed a River Squeeze.
