小盲 20bb ICM 局面(SB 20bb ICM Spot)

SB 20bb ICM Spot

In the late stage of a tournament, when holding approximately 20 big blinds in the small blind position, a critical spot for decision-making based on the Independent Chip Model ICM.

Overview

The SB 20bb ICM Spot is a common strategic node in Texas Hold'em tournaments, especially near the money bubble or final table stage. In this scenario, the small blind (SB) has approximately 20 big blinds (bb) of chips, while the big blind (BB) and other players have varying stack sizes. ICM (Independent Chip Model) converts chips into cash value, making decisions not solely based on pot odds but also considering survival and the resulting prize ladder jumps.

Key Factors

  • ICM Pressure: 20bb is a medium-short stack depth, within the push/fold strategy range. The small blind, facing the big blind, often faces a choice between all-in or fold due to position disadvantage and the high cost of seeing a flop. Under ICM, the marginal value of chips decreases, so avoiding elimination is more important than accumulating chips, leading to a tighter all-in range compared to cash games.
  • Position Disadvantage: The small blind is in the worst position post-flop and has already invested half a blind in dead money. At 20bb depth, post-flop maneuverability is limited, so most of the time the small blind will choose to go all-in or fold, rather than call or make a small raise.
  • Opponent Adjustment: The big blind's calling range against the small blind's all-in tends to be tighter due to ICM, especially when the big blind has more chips. The big blind may avoid calling with marginal hands to prevent being eliminated or losing a significant portion of their stack. The small blind can exploit this by widening their shoving range appropriately.

Typical Strategy

  • Jam Range: Typically includes all pairs, A-high hands, Kx hands, and some suited connectors (e.g., JTs). The exact range should be adjusted based on ICM Nash equilibrium calculations, but in practice, consider opponent tendencies and other short stacks at the table.
  • Fold Range: Weak hands like Q2o, T3o, etc., should be folded directly, even with dead money in the pot, because calling or raising leads to difficult post-flop situations.
  • Avoid Calling: At 20bb depth, calling a raise from the big blind is usually a mistake, as the small blind lacks the stack to effectively combat continuation bets post-flop.

Notes

ICM calculations require precise chip distributions and payout structures; approximated strategies can be used in actual gameplay. When your own stack is very short (<10bb), the jam range becomes wider; when exceeding 30bb, post-flop play increases. The 20bb figure here is just a typical threshold; adjustments should be made dynamically based on the situation.
